7 Ways To Add Volume To Fine Hair

If you have fine hair, you’ve probably dealt with a lifetime of limp, pathetic, lifeless bangs that stick to your forehead. The struggle is real for people with fine hair but it’s possible to transform that hair into big bouncy locks with lots of volume. Most people confuse fine hair with thinning hair. These are completely two different types of hairs.

What makes fine hair fine is the diameter of each strand although fine hair could also be sparse or abundant. Fine hair is silky soft and has a beautiful texture. So how exactly do you add volume to fine hair?

There are a number of issues that we shall address. First, we shall address some of the issues that could be causing your fine hair to become thin as well as how to rectify it to add volume. Second, we shall give you tips on products and hairstyles that will give you maximum volume for your hair.

1. Rule Out Medical Conditions

Sometimes you may have fine, thinning hair because you are suffering from medical conditions such as hyperthyroidism, where your thyroid produces excessive hormones. Your thyroid is responsible for regulating your metabolism through the release of hormones. One of the major symptoms of hyperthyroidism is excessive hair loss or fine, brittle hair.

Other medical conditions that may be causing your hair to thin out include:

a) Acute stress disorder

b) Alopecia aerate

c) Hypothyroidism

d) Syphilis

e) Hashimoto’s disease

Treating these medical conditions can help slow down hair thinning and even stop hair loss altogether. Talk to your doctor if you notice that you are losing huge amounts of hair everyday so that they can diagnose and put you on a treatment plan to grow back your hair.

2. Eat Your Way to Healthy Hair

eat-2002918_960_720

People say that hair is “dead’ but that’s not true because your roots need to be nourished. This means you need to eat the right kind of foods in order to prevent conditions like dry scalp. Dry hair is a sign that you don’t take enough fluids to hydrate your body and lifeless hair is a sign that something in your diet is missing.

First, you need to increase your protein intake. Your hair is made up of protein and if you do not eat enough proteins, it leads to iron deficiency, which subsequently leads to hair loss. Lack of vitamin C, which aids your body in absorbing iron, could also lead to fine, thinning hair.

Top up your intake of protein by eating oily fish, red meat, low fat dairy products, soybeans, whole grains, nuts, eggs, cauliflower, beans and bananas. It’s also recommended that you take a multivitamin supplement including iron and vitamin C every day. If you already don’t, then you should start cooking with coconut oil and olive oil. Avoid tobacco, alcohol and caffeine as well as refined and processed foods.

3. Get Rid of Your Hair Products

Most people just grab any hair product they see on the shelf or products that their hair dressers or friends recommend to them. They don’t bother to check the ingredients. Many of these hair products contain chemicals that are harsh not only to your hair but to also your scalp. Stay away from these products:

a) Salt Sprays: These ones simply dry out your hair.

b) Fragrance- Once again, these products do nothing for your hair other than messing up with your nervous system. If you absolutely must have some sort of fragrance in your hair, you are better off choosing scented essential oils.

c) Products with parabens- parabens kill bacteria in water-based solutions. This sounds okay except that they are toxic and can be absorbed through the skin. Only choose products that are 100% paraben free.

d) Heat protectants- [easyazon_link identifier=”B002RS6JSA” locale=”US” tag=”shophairdryers-20″]Heat protectants[/easyazon_link] are good if you choose the right products for your hair. Most heat protectants are moisturizers so when you apply them to your hair immediately before using the curling iron, it’s like you are “cooking” your hair, causing it to break off. Go for a dry spray so that you are not making your hair wet before using heat.

e) Protein-based conditioners- while protein is good for your hair, too much of it will cause your hair to break while combing or styling. You will notice that if you use protein-based conditioners for a while, your hair will develop a straw-like texture. Conditioners fortified with protein are fine provided protein is not the only ingredient.

f) Sulfate shampoos- high quantities of sulfates strip your hair of its natural oils and color. Look for a shampoo that’s high in moisturizing components and [easyazon_link keywords=”sulfate free shampoo” locale=”US” tag=”shophairdryers-20″]low in sulfates[/easyazon_link].

g) Silicone based products- silicone will make your hair shiny but the downside is that it dries your hair as well. Silicone is waterproof and once it coats your hair, it prevents moisture and nutrients from getting absorbed. If you want a glossy finish for your hair, go for products that have a silicon free solution.

h) Alcohol based products- most styling gels and mousses contain alcohol. We all know that alcohol is a drying ingredient so it will make your hair dry and brittle.

4. Pick The Right Volumizing Hair Product for Your Hair Type

It’s important to identify your hair type because it will help you choose products that will not only increase volume but will also nourish it. There are three different types of hair:

a) Oily hair

If you have oily skin, there’s a high chance you also have oily hair. Oily skin means an oily scalp and an oily scalp means oily hair. Your hair is the oily type if it looks dull and lifeless all the time, your hair looks greasy after a day or two no matter how well you shampoo it and you have a lot of dandruff because of the excessive oil secretion.

For this type of hair, don’t over wash it; just wash it once or twice a week. Remove excess build up using a [easyazon_link keywords=”clarifying shampoo” locale=”US” tag=”shophairdryers-20″]clarifying shampoo[/easyazon_link] every month. Some natural methods for dealing with build-up include rinsing your hair with lemon, beer and apple cider vinegar. Don’t forget to use oil treatments once a week to condition and hydrate your roots.

b) Dry hair

Dry hair is caused by ineffective oil glands. If you have dry skin, chances are you also have dry hair. Your hair is the dry type when you have excessive split ends, breakage and hair loss. To take care of such hair, you can opt for:

[easyazon_image align=”center” height=”500″ identifier=”B00G6T4U2I” locale=”US” src=”http://www.shophairdryers.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/02/51vfAYCX8ML-1.jpg” tag=”shophairdryers-20″ width=”370″]

i) [easyazon_link keywords=”Hot oil treatment” locale=”US” tag=”shophairdryers-20″]Hot oil treatment[/easyazon_link]

ii) Using [easyazon_link keywords=”hair deep conditioner” locale=”US” tag=”shophairdryers-20″]leave in treatments or deep conditioning[/easyazon_link] at least once a week.

iii) Avoid using heat on your hair as much as possible

iv) Wash your hair less often to avoid stripping it of its natural oils

C) Normal hair

This probably the easiest hair type to maintain yet it’s the most uncommon hair type to find. All you have to do to maintain this hair type is to protect it from sun damage, moisturize and clean it with the right hair products.

5. Add Volume To Fine Hair With Styling Products

fashion-2081952_960_720

The secret to adding volume to your hair is to choose products that won’t weigh it down. Look for a volumizing conditioner and shampoo that will detangle and plump up hair strands. Styling mousse works well on fine hair. The airy formula holds the hair in place and gives it a great body.

A finishing spray that does not weigh down your hair or make it stiff is ideal. A fine mist hairspray works well and hairstyling pros suggest that you layer the hair spray. You should start with a small amount and then re-apply it as needed.

[easyazon_link keywords=”Volumizing spray” locale=”US” tag=”shophairdryers-20″]Volumizing spray[/easyazon_link] thickens the diameter of each hair strand and supports the roots without making your hair stiff or sticky. It works best when you use it before setting your hair or before blow-drying it. Most people with fine hair are unable to maintain volume at the roots. A root booster will help with this. Simply spray your roots with a root booster and blow dry. You’ll immediately see your roots get an instant boost.

6. Add More Volume With these Styling Tips

Add volume to your hair with a wavy or curly hairstyle. These hairstyles instantly give your hair a volume boost. To get curly hair, without heat, you should follow these steps:

i) Shampoo and condition your hair as usual. Using a wide toothed comb, untangle the hair and pat it dry with a t-shirt. The reason why a t-shirt is recommended is that it does not leave the hair frizzy like a towel normally would.

ii) While your hair is still damp, part it into eight different sections and braid each sections tightly. You can divide your hair into more sections depending on how tight you want your curls to be. Fasten the ends with a hair tie. Avoid using rubber bands as they tend to pull hair when taking them out.

iii) Let your hair air dry but if you are in a hurry, you can use a blow dryer with medium heat. Once your hair is dry, apply some oil on your hands and undo the braids as gently as you can. The oild prevents the ends from getting frizzy. Once all the braids have been undone, you can gently separate them to get curls.

iv) Use an afro comb to gently “lift” the curls and to add more volume to your roots.

You can also use rollers to add more volume to your hair. Big rollers will create big lengthy curls while small rollers will create small, short curls.

[easyazon_image align=”center” height=”500″ identifier=”B002R72N36″ locale=”US” src=”http://www.shophairdryers.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/02/510eiM8srNL.jpg” tag=”shophairdryers-20″ width=”395″]

Avoid as much as possible from using heat on your hair unless it’s absolutely necessary. Heat will make your hair brittle, which can lead to breakage. Air dry your hair whenever possible. If you ever need to use a blow dryer, use it on low heat. Fine hair doesn’t require a lot of heat while styling in order to get the job done.

Always protect your hair from heat damage by using a thermal protective product. These product as a barrier between your hair and the heat. They should be used after you have applied volumizing products.

When choosing a brush for your hair, avoid the ones with metal bristles especially when blow drying your hair. Those brushes absorb a lot of heat when used with a blow dryer and they can eventually damage your hair. You also want to avoid hard plastic bristles because they snag and break hair. It’s better to go for brushes with soft nylon bristles because they glide through the hair easily and they won’t overheat.

6. Use A Ceramic Hair Dryer

Ceramic hair dryers are ideal for fine or thin hair because it doesn’t smooth the cuticle down excessively like an ionic hair dryer can.  If you want to use an ionic hair dryer, pick one that has the option of turning the ionic setting off.

Hair drying technique can also have an immediate volumizing affect on your hair. For best results you’ll want to aim the nozzle at your roots and dry this area first. The velocity of airflow will create a rougher texture for instant volume.

Blow drying while using a round hair brush can also really amp up your hair. Run the brush through the length of your hair and flip the ends while aiming the dryer at the roots and also at the ends of your hair in order to style the ends.

Another tip is to blow dry your hair upside down. Simply flip your hair upside down and concentrate at the roots.  For maximum body you’ll want to blow dry your hair until it’s completely dry. Any remaining moisture will just weigh your hair down.

[easyazon_image align=”center” height=”500″ identifier=”B000ASDGK8″ locale=”US” src=”http://www.shophairdryers.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/02/31WUfR5rJeL.jpg” tag=”shophairdryers-20″ width=”351″]

Ceramic hair dryers we recommend include the [easyazon_link identifier=”B001UHN0HM” locale=”US” tag=”shophairdryers-20″]Babyliss Pro Ceramic Carrera 2[/easyazon_link] and the [easyazon_link identifier=”B004YZMKKU” locale=”US” tag=”shophairdryers-20″]John Frieda Full Volume[/easyazon_link] blow dryer.

7. Get A Volumizing Hair Cut

If you prefer to keep short hair, a cute tousled pixie will not only add volume to your hair but it will also look cute. To add volume to this hairstyle, apply mousse to moisturize the hair strands then dry your hair with a blow dryer set to the lowest heat while combing through your hair with your fingers.

Mist random sections of your hair with volumizing spray and twist it tightly. Use the blow dryer to dry the hair. Continue doing this until all sections of hair are twisted. Once your hair is cool, untwist all the sections using your hair and gently tousle it. This technique is great for hiding “peek-a-boo” scalp and creates the illusion of volume.

If you prefer to keep medium length hair, you’ll find that it’s much easier to style it. You can opt for a long bob, which looks absolutely amazing and stylish. You can opt to have it layered or bluntly cut to one length.

If you like long hair, you will need to add a few layers to it to add volume. Long fine hair tends to look limp and lifeless. Layers add dimension and movement, which gives hair more volume. If your hair is sparse at the front, you should consider getting bangs. Of course your hair stylist will advice you on the best kind of bangs to get depending on the shape of your face. Besides, bangs highlight your eyes. If you aren’t into bangs, you can opt to add waves to your hair and add layers to it.

7 Foods That Will Make Your Hair Grow Faster

Your diet is one of the key factors to faster hair growth and healthy beautiful hair.  Iron deficiencies are one of the leading causes of hair loss and thinning hair for women in particular. The percentage of women with anemia or iron deficiency ranges from 8-11%. This is easily remedied by eating foods rich in iron such as beef. Below is a list of 7 healthy foods that your hair needs in order to grow long and healthy.

Protein

Proteins are essential to hair growth since they are the building blocks of your hair. Good sources of lean protein include lean beef, chicken, salmon, shrimp and beans. Other foods that are rich in protein include Greek yogurt, eggs and tuna. One of the easiest ways to get some protein in the first thing in the morning is with a well-balanced breakfast of eggs or Greek Yogurt. Fage Greek yogurt in particular contains a hefty amount with 20 grams of protein per serving.

If you are finding it hard to get in an adequate amount of protein each day, try taking a protein supplement or protein powder such as Optimum Nutrition which comes in various delicious flavors. One serving of Optimum Nutrition protein powder contains approximately 24 grams of protein (depending on the flavor). If you’re a vegetarian, you’ll need to get your protein from eggs and legumes like beans.

imagesOmega-3

Omega-3 also known as “good fats” are also essential for hair growth and helps to promote shine.  Our body does not produce Omega-3’s naturally which makes it important to make sure you get enough via food or a supplement.

Foods that are rich in omega 3’s include salmon, mackerel, cod liver oil, walnuts, herring, chia seeds olive oil and avocado.  Besides making your hair lustrous and shiny, salmon also has inflammatory properties for healthy, beautiful looking skin. Omega-3 fatty acids may also lower cholesterol levels, stabilize blood sugar, lower inflammation, reduce blood clotting and heart failure risk (Source).

Biotin

Biotin, also known as Vitamin B7, is another nutrient for fast hair growth. Biotin is often found in hair growth supplements but you can also get it from eggs (another high protein food) and avocados. A deficiency in biotin may lead to thinning hair, brittle nails and a scaly rash around the eyes, nose and mouth (Source).

Foods high in biotin include liver, yeast, beans, avocado, raspberries, mushrooms, cauliflower, egg yolks and organ meats. The daily recommended serving of biotin is 30 micrograms for adults .

Additional health benefits of Biotin include supporting a healthy metabolism, lowering blood sugar levels, maintaining cardiovascular health and supporting thyroid and adrenal function.

If you can’t get enough biotin in your diet for some reason, you can also opt for biotin supplements.

Egg Yolks

Some people throw away egg yolks because they are higher in fat compared to egg whites but they actually contain essential nutrients such as biotin, omega-3’s and protein which are vital for your hair’s health. Other health benefits of eggs include reducing the risk of heart disease, lowering blood triglycerides and improving eye health. Eggs aren’t just for breakfast time; they also make as excellent snacks and are delicious when tossed with a salad.

Zinc

Oysters are high in zinc, a mineral that helps hair grow and repair itself. Zinc also helps to improve the function of your hair’s oil glands for shiny hair. A deficiency in zinc can lead to dandruff and slow hair growth. Foods high in zinc include oysters, clams, liver, crab, peanut butter and cheese.

Avocado

Eating avocados can prevent hair loss and increase hair growth (Source). Avocados are rich in vitamin E and B which work to strengthen hair. Not only are avocados delicious, they also provide benefits when physically applied to your hair as a mask. Avocado hair products are extremely moisturizing due to their high fat content.

Sunflower Seeds

Sunflowers seeds are an amazing snack that contains vitamin E, vitamin B, selenium, protein, magnesium, copper, Omega-6 fatty acids and biotin. Eating a small snack of sunflower seeds every day can make your hair grow longer. Sunflower seeds are also delicious when used as a topping on salads and vegetables.

Dyson Hair Dryer Review

Dyson is known for producing first-rate household vacuum cleaners and the brand has expanded to hair dryers, producing what it’s calling “the best hair dryer” on the market. As you can expect from Dyson, the price is extremely steep at $399 a pop.

How The Dyson Supersonic Hair Dryer Works

The Dyson hair dryer offers advanced technology never seen before in a blow dryer including a microprocessor and glass-bead thermistor in order to prevent hair from overheating and getting damaged during the blow drying process. The thermistor controls the dryer’s heat and checks the temperature at an astounding 20x per second. If it detects temperatures that are not optimal the microprocessor automatically adjusts them in order to prevent overheating.

When using a regular hair dryer you have to adjust the temperature settings according to your hair. The Dyson Supersonic adjusts them for you automatically so there’s no second guessing.

Dyson Hair Dryer Engineering & Testing

According to Dyson, it took over 100 engineers, four years and $67 million dollars in order to produce the Supersonic Dyson hair dryer. The company purchased over $50,000 of real human hair in order to test all the ways that heat can impact hair.

the-hair-dryer-re-thought-desktop-bg

Features

This hair dryer utilizes ionic technology for shiny, glossy hair. Power stands at 1600 watts which is more than ample to dry even thick and hard to manage air. The Dyson blow dryer comes with 3 speed settings and 4 precise heat settings including a constant cold button. The exterior comes with Heat Shield Technology keeping the attachments cool even during close-up styling. Despite its high tech features the Dyson is a quiet hair dryer and contains an acoustic silencer designed to minimize noise. The digital motor has an inaudible frequency.

The Dyson blow dryer weighs in at 1.8 lb which is heavier than other dryers we’ve reviewed such as this one which weighs in at just under 1 lb. Cable length is at 9 foot allowing for lots of maneuverability.

Dyson Hair Dryer Accessories

dryerweb-large_transqvzuuqpflyliwib6ntmjwfsvwez_ven7c6bhu2jjnt8The Dyson hair dryer comes with two nozzles; a smoothing nozzle and a styling concentrator. The smoothing nozzle dries hair gently and smoothly and can be used without a hair brush and diffuses the air instead of blasting it; it’s the opposite of a “rough dry”.  It controls the airflow for a smoother finish. The styling concentrator allows you to style very specific areas without disturbing the rest of your hair.

It also comes with a diffuser making it suitable for those with curly or wavy hair. The attachments are magnetic allowing you to adjust them quickly.  It also comes with a storage hanger and a non-slip mat (we assume this is to be used on a slippery surface such as the bathroom countertop) in order to prevent slippage.

Warranty

We like the fact that it comes with a 2 year parts and labor warranty; a must when you’re spending that much on a dryer.

Alternatives

If you want a high tech dryer without spending a fortune consider the Chi Touch screen which is practically steal costing just one fourth of the Dyson.

Other luxury hair dryers that are significantly more affordable include Bio Ionic, Elchim, GHD & Solano.

Bottom Line

Dyson Hair Dryer

The Dyson hair dryer offers features never seen before in any hair dryer including a microprocessor and themistor. If you spend a few hundred dollars on highlights and a cut every few months the Dyson would be a solid buy since it can be expected to last many years and keep your hair protected between visits.

The Dyson hair dryer would make an excellent buy for anyone who has damaged strands from heat styling or color processes and wants to minimize as much future damage as possible.

If you love gadgets and the latest technology you will also love this Dyson Supersonic blow dryer since it’s at the forefront of cutting edge technology.

Choosing The Best Low EMF Hair Dryer

Thinking of buying a low EMF hair dryer? Not sure what “low-EMF” means? We break down the importance of EMF  considerations when choosing a blow dryer.

What Is A Low EMF Hair Dryer?

Hair dryers available for purchase may be labeled as “low-EMF” (EMF stands for electro magnetic field). This means that the appliance produces a lower level of EMF radiation compared with other dryers on the market. EMF radiation is actually quite common and present in many household appliances including microwaves, fluorescent lamps, blenders, televisions and vaccuum cleaners.

However, some experts belief that it may contribute to serious health issues including cancer and tumors. Although there is no definitive proven link to cancer, some consumers may choose to opt for low-EMF dryers for piece of mind. It’s not unheard of for products to be proven harmful even though they were initially deemed as safe. As consumers, we have the right to know the potential repercussions of using a particular product and making the decision whether to use it or not.

Unfortunately, the levels of EMF radiation is not required to be labeled on products which makes finding low EMF hair dryers and appliances challenging.

Low - Emf Hair DryerHow To Find Out If A Hair Dryer Is Low EMF

An EMF tester can be used in order to test the EMF rating of any household device.  Exposure to the average hair dryer at up to 3 feet is generally at 60-20,000 mG which is high considering the fact that according to the USA Environmental Protection Agency recommended safety levels are at .5 mG to 2.5 mG.

Here’s a list of dryers clearly labeled as Low EMF Hair Dryers

How To Get Beach Waves

Long-Beach-Waves

We all love how sexy and tousled our hair looks after a day at the beach….  messy beachy hair is the epitome of summer hair and we break down exactly how to achieve it. We asked beauty editor JC to share her best tips for creating the ultimate beach waves.

Achieve Sunkissed Beachy Locks With Balayage

Ideally beachy hair should look like it’s sunkissed and starts darker at the roots graduating to lighter tips. This doesn’t necessarily mean dip dyed or a super obvious ombre… just natural highlights where the sun would hit with lighter ends. Golden hues and ashier tones can be equally flattering depending on your skin tone.

Curl Your Hair

It’s not an exact science so feel free to use any curling iron you have; [easyazon_link identifier=”B00176F2BS” locale=”US” tag=”shophairdryers-20″]big barrel curling irons[/easyazon_link] are great as well as [easyazon_link keywords=”curling wand” locale=”US” tag=”shophairdryers-20″]curling wand[/easyazon_link]. It’s generally a good idea to curl away from the face but remember that it doesn’t have to be precise. Beachy hair is messy and imperfect.

Mess Up Your Curls

Once your curls are set mess them up! You can use your fingers but if you’ve created tighter curls you may want to comb them through with a comb and continue to run your fingers through your hair to loosen the curls.

[easyazon_image align=”right” height=”160″ identifier=”B00TZ0463S” locale=”US” src=”http://www.shophairdryers.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/09/41lmV6nolOL.SL160.jpg” tag=”shophairdryers-20″ width=”160″]Use Sea Salt or a Texturizing Spray

Sea salt sprays are great at achieving the ultimate messy beachy hair. Just spritz in your curled locks and tousle and shake it out. The only disadvantage with sea salts is that they can dry out your hair if used long term. Another option is to use a texturizing spray; just tousle your curls till they are loose and spray a bit of texturizing spray and sort of rub your hair together with your fingers in order to create that organic texture.

One we really like is [easyazon_link identifier=”B003NXM9HS” locale=”US” tag=”shophairdryers-20″]Oribe Texturizing Spray[/easyazon_link] and for a more affordable spritz we love [easyazon_link identifier=”B00TZ0463S” locale=”US” tag=”shophairdryers-20″]Not Your Mother’s Double Take[/easyazon_link].

And there you have it, sexy Victoria’s Secret style bombshell beach waves that you can wear all summer and year long. Remember that this style looks even for the next few days; just use a dry shampoo like Oscar Bland Pronto in order to absorb excess oil and you’re set!

How To Blow Dry Your Hair

Want to give yourself a salon style blowout like your hair stylist does? A great blowout can last several days and look even better the next day. Read on to find how how to blow dry your hair at home.

Towel Dry Hair & Apply Product Before Hair Drying

Ever notice how your stylist always takes a long time to carefully towel dry your hair? Getting rid of excess moisture with a towel can help make drying time much faster. After gently squeezing excess water out of your hair take a towel and continue drying your hair until all the excess water is gone. Apply your desired styling product or hair treatment on damp hair. I don’t use any styling products so all I do is apply a bit of [easyazon_link identifier=”B001U9M2EW” locale=”US” tag=”shophairdryers-20″]Agadir oil[/easyazon_link]. It’s similar to Moroccan oil but any hair oil will do.

How To Blow Dry Your Hair For Volume

Some people like to divide their hair into sections first but I find it more efficient to blow dry all over and blow dry with a round brush once the hair is halfway dry in order to eliminate drying time. Aim the nozzle at the roots for extra volume. If you have fine, thin hair and want extra volume you may also flip your hair upside down and blow dry it that way for more volume. If you have thick or coarse hair, pick a powerful dryer with a strong motor such as those from Babyliss, T3 or Sedu.

How To Blow Dry Your Hair If You Have Curls

If you have curly or wavy hair look for a hair dryer with a diffuser. Most blow dryers are compatible with universal diffusers. A diffuser will dry your curls gently and leave them frizz and tangle free.

Divide & Conquer

Once your hair is halfway dry separate it into sections; the number of sections depends on the thickness of your hair. The brush that you choose makes a big difference. Many stylist prefer to use a mixed bristle brush like [easyazon_link identifier=”B00011QVHO” locale=”US” tag=”shophairdryers-20″]Spornette[/easyazon_link]. The key to a salon style blowout is to pull the hair extremely tight throughout the brush as you blow dry it. You may blow dry it with a slight flip towards the end for a wave. Some may prefer to blow dry with the curl facing away from the face for a sexy voluminous look.

Concentrate

Not just on blow drying your hair but use a concentrator. A concentrator is a must for that smooth perfect salon blowout look. If you don’t use one the airflow will just go everywhere without rhyme or reason resulting in messier hair (which can be fabulous too if that’s the look you’re going for). If your goal is to get smooth locks you may want to use a concentrator for the desired effect.

Seal It With The “Cool Shot’ button

Once you get a section curled or as straight as you like, hit it with a blast of the “cool shot” button from your dryer to lock in the style.

Styling Products

A product that I really like to use after blow drying my hair is just a very small amount of [easyazon_link identifier=”B000BIZSUS” locale=”US” tag=”shophairdryers-20″]Bumble & Bumble Brilliantine[/easyazon_link]. It smells divine (like roses) and somehow manages to make your hair look even better without any stiffness. You can use any other products such as hairspray or a shine spray as desired.

The Day After

The great thing about a great blowout is the fact that it can last for days and days. I highly recommend using a  dry shampoo the days after in order to get rid of oil and add even more volume to your hair.  Washing your hair every day isn’t good for your hair (dries out your hair). One that I recommend is [easyazon_link identifier=”B000XYPNMS” locale=”US” tag=”shophairdryers-20″]Oscar Blandi Pronto[/easyazon_link]; it’s a white powder that smells like lemons. I have black hair and it doesn’t show at all after it’s rubbed in.
